Arkreen @DESFT Project Launch: Driving Solv Foundation’s ERC3525 Exploration for Climate Market Revolution
(Singapore, November 15, 2023) Solv Foundation unveiled Project DESFT at the 2023 Singapore FinTech Festival this week, a blockchain-driven trusted digital credential platform developed in collaboration with Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Bank of Ghana (BOG). Aligned with the inclusive FinTech strategies of MAS and BOG, DESFT aims to tokenize trusted digital credentials on the blockchain for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in developing countries. The project empowers MSMEs to participate in international trade, offering them access to efficient, accurate, and affordable financial services through an open and interoperable digital credential system. By leveraging blockchain, cryptography, and digital identity technologies, Project DESFT aspires to create a scalable network for trust in business.
Solv Foundation’s Co-founder and SFT Labs Chair, Mr. Yan Meng, a Co-author of ERC-3525, has been instrumental in incubating Project DESFT, highlighting the role of blockchain in addressing real-world challenges within the global supply chain. The collaboration with MAS and Bank of Ghana aims to enhance trusted digital credentials for a more inclusive trade landscape, particularly benefiting new MSMEs in developing countries. Mr. Meng emphasized that Project DESFT, utilizing ERC-3525 to tokenize Verifiable Credentials, introduces ‘Controllable Transparency’, striking a balance between privacy and visibility. This marks a significant milestone for ERC-3525, following the success of the ‘Tokenized Invoices’ project in the Australian CBDC pilot program, showcasing its potential to reshape the perception of digital credentials in conjunction with technologies like CBDC and regulated stable coins.
During the launch event of Project DESFT, Arkreen was honored to participate in the panel discussion, with Abba Garba, Head of Product and Partnership, offering valuable insights alongside Mr. Yan Meng, Solv Foundation’s Co-founder and SFT Labs Chair, sharing expertise on ERC3525 in Climate Action, particularly in the context of Fractionalized Carbon Credit and Renewable Energy Certificate Trading on the Web3 and ReFi Platform.

ERC3525 in Climate Action: Fractionalized Carbon Credit and Renewable Energy Certificate Trading on the Web3 and ReFi Platform
ERC-3525, known as the “Semi-Fungible Token” (SFT), is a groundbreaking asset token standard merging the quantitative features of ERC-20 with the descriptive aspects of ERC-721 (NFT). This standard introduces a hybrid approach for tokenizing and fractionalizing Carbon Credits (CCs) and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), allowing for seamless on-chain transparency and trading alongside other digital assets. ERC-3525 maintains compatibility with ERC-721 and simplifies the transfer of value between tokens in the same slot, enabling fungibility even among CCs/RECs with different IDs in the ERC-3525 SFT protocol.

ERC-3525 SFT protocol is a better choice for issuing fractionalized CCs/RECs
ERC-3525 SFT introduces a novel type of digital asset rooted in blockchain technology, blending the features of both fungible and non-fungible characteristics. Distinguished from ERC-20 or ERC-721 tokens, ERC-3525 presents a cutting-edge digital representation encompassing ownership, value, rights, status, and identity. The standard supports various attributes, such as texts, images, links, or file data, which can be subdivided into multiple fractions. Furthermore, ERC-3525 SFT disrupts the conventional token-to-address transfer mechanism, unlocking an array of unprecedented use cases, distinct from the ERC-20 token model. These SFTs possess a high level of descriptiveness, enabling the display of image formats (e.g., jpeg and gif), real-time on-chain data feeds, and file attachments. Similar to the aggregation of multiple ERC-20 tokens, users can fractionalize an SFT or combine multiple SFTs using the unique mechanism inherent to ERC-3525 tokens, facilitating the grouping of otherwise unique entities under the notion of like-kindness.

Each ERC-3525 token is identifiable by a unique ID, but it also permits quantitative operations on other SFTs, provided that they reside in the same slot. This functionality enhances the versatility and utility of ERC-3525 SFTs, making them a powerful tool for various applications in the blockchain ecosystem.
