What Is Home Assistant?

Home Assistant is the world’s largest open-source smart home software for automation, serving as an integration platform and hub devices at home., boasting over 260,000 active installations. It supports more than 2,500 devices, services, and platforms from top companies such as Enphase, Huawei, SolarEdge, SolaX Power, Sungrow etc..

This extensive support includes a wide range of energy-related devices, enabling users to monitor and control their energy consumption and production effectively. For instance, integrating solar panels into Home Assistant lets users gain insights into their energy production.

Additionally, the community actively discusses and develops integrations for various inverter brands, enhancing compatibility and user experience.

What Is Arkreen CSP?

To harness the power of the Web3 community and bring the vision of building Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) together, Arkreen Network has introduced the Community Solar Program (CSP). This initiative encourages individuals worldwide who are concerned about climate change to integrate their own solar photovoltaic (PV) power systems into the Arkreen network. By doing so, we can build global renewable energy resources in a DePIN way and develop ReFi applications for public goods.

Arkreen CSP currently supports two integration modes:

Smart Meter Hardware: Suitable for any inverter; requires installing a smart meter below the inverter output cable.

API Acquisition:

Pull Mode: Suitable for some inverter brands with cloud APIs to fetch power generation data.

Push Mode: Suitable for users who push power generation data to Arkreen themselves.

These integration modes allow users to connect their solar PV systems to the Arkreen network, contributing to a decentralized and community-driven renewable energy infrastructure.

Arkreen CSP Integration with Home Assistant

In February 2024, Arkreen initiated integration with Home Assistant, enabling users with Home Assistant platforms to install Automation (for periodic solar data collection) and Notifications (for pushing generation data to Arkreen). To ensure data timeliness, the current data push interval is set to every 5 minutes. Every 5 minutes, Home Assistant transmits the user's solar PV system's real-time generation power and cumulative generation data to the Arkreen Network.

These CSP miners have begun to receive substantial $AKRE rewards and $ART outputs, with $ART usable in other applications within the Arkreen ecosystem.

Operational Status of Home Assistant-Based Arkreen CSP

Currently, CSP miners integrated via Home Assistant have been operating steadily for nearly a year, demonstrating high data timeliness and reliability. This indicates that this integration mode is dependable. Additionally, since this integration mode requires no additional hardware installation, the connection process is relatively simple and quick.

Home Assistant community users can intuitively view the integration results through the Arkreen Explorer, including real-time power and cumulative generation data, as well as reward information. Below are links to information on several Arkreen CSP miners connected via Home Assistant:

Next Steps

After nearly a year of integration and operational monitoring, Arkreen believes that connecting solar PV equipment via Home Assistant is an efficient and stable method. However, the current integration primarily focuses on solar PV system data and requires users to have some programming experience, presenting certain limitations.

Moving forward, Arkreen plans to fully embrace the Home Assistant community by not only supporting the integration of solar PV systems but also enabling devices like batteries, smart meters, and smart plugs to connect to the Arkreen Network as Battery Miners and PGP Miners. Additionally, the integration process will be optimized to allow users to complete it through simple GUI operations without the need for complex configurations.

This advancement aims to make the integration process more user-friendly and accessible, encouraging broader participation from the Home Assistant community in building a decentralized renewable energy network.
